What Tiger Should have said...

And if you ask me personally, I'll give you the non-edited version. Because I'm telling you, this one is prettied up A LOT!!!

So here it goes: What Tiger should have said, "It's none of your freakin business you self-centered people who think even my sex life revolves around you. I am so sorry that you didn't get the "celebrities don't make good role models" memo when Brittany Spears lost her ever lovin mind and led all of our tweens down the road to being lunatic bimbos. Maybe you should stop trying to give the role that is rightfully yours to someone who doesn't even know your child. The only concern you should have about my life is whether or not I can still swing the golf club. And if you haven't noticed, I can. So, keep your eye on the ball.

Apologies only to my wife and children and the God that I may never know because you've made it so very clear that He would never accept me".

I completely and totally agree. All these people want him to apologize to the public. Uh, why? It's none of our business. Just because he is a known golf player doesn't mean his whole life belongs to us. It really rubs me the wrong way for the media to be like.. "He isn't saying enough." All that matters is what he is saying to his family and that is very much none of our business!

...and here I am again. What can I say? :)LOL

You know from when we have talked about this that I can't agree with you more... sitting here tonight halfway watching ESPN, I can't even tell you how many times I have heard them talk about Tiger! ....but not his golf game, not his sponsorships, not even his game plan... BUT HIS MARRIAGE, HIS FAMILY, ETC... makes me so sick. Like his marriage is ANYONE ELSE's business... I could go on and on and on...

Tonight Billy Payne even went so far as to say that Tiger has disappointed our children and our grandchildren, his image is forever tarnished. WHAT??? What image.. He never once (EVER) portrayed himself as a family man. He never portrayed himself as a "good guy". He never pretended to be anything but an amazing golfer. In fact... his whole mantra forcused on elite-ness... right down to his sponsors and endorsements he portrayed himself as the best of the best IN GOLF. Not as a Husband, not as a dad, not as a friend, not as a good samaritan. It's not his job, or anyone else but the parents of "our children" to instill those values in them. Here's another newsflash for Mr. Payne... if he is waiting on a "celebrity" to make his children a good person, he is probably going to die really disappointed.

There are men ALL OVER THE PLACE with this same weakness, Tiger just had access to things that most men don't...

But props to him for giving an apology to people that didn't deserve one, and props to him for trying get help, and props to his wife for moving past it, and SHAME ON AMERICA for not letting them recover and move on.

I hope he BLOWS THEM AWAY at the Masters... and I hope that stripper that is mocking the whole situation by "performing" at a local strip club while he is in town breaks both of her legs... and I mean that in the most christian way possible. :)

okay, with that said... Goodnight! ;)

While I do agree that parents should not rely on public figures to be role models for their children, I'm going to have to disagree with what Jay said about Tiger never promoting himself as a good guy or family man. He's been quoted in interviews saying "family first, then golf." He also started the Tiger Woods Foundation, whose mission statement is to "promote parental responsibility and involvement in the lives of children."

Gatorade, etc, are not "elite" brands...and from a marketing perspective, endorsing those products is a way of saying "Hey, eat/drink/wear/shave with this and you can be just like me!"

I don't think he necessarily owed the public an apology for his personal life, but I can definitely see how people could feel a little let down.

But, then again, I think golf is terribly boring...so what do I know? :)

Wow, I never knew any of that (and I am married to an avid Tiger follower)... which means if that was the image he was trying to portray, he didn't do a very good job of it and maybe he needs to re-assess his marketing team...coming from someone who has worked in Marketing the majority of my working life.

Either way, I think the point that Dana was trying to make here was that what has happened to his marriage is none of anyone's business - and it isn't. Plain and simple, He didn't owe anyone an apology - except for his wife and family. America has gone WAY too far with their constant deframation of his character and it's relentless critisizing of his (what should be obvious) attempt to make a change for the better.

Besides, like Danette said, there are so many other newsworthy things to be talking about... Like Kate Gosselin and her horrible dancing. :)
