First Day of First Grade!

We took Emma for her first day of school this morning. It went off without a hitch or so I thought until I got home and looked at the pictures I took and realized that she had a bracelet on in the pictures. How did that get by me? Strong lecture coming this afternoon...

Anyway, it was much less traumatizing than last year. We already love her teacher. I did shed a couple of tears as I was writing the note to go in her lunch box. But, if you know me, you know that just a couple of tears for anything is quite an achievement for me.

For record keeping sake and because I doubt the note makes it back home, this is what it said:
Emma, Chloe and I will be waiting on you at home to hear how your first day went. Remember that there might be someone there that is sad. Be their friend and I know that they will be happy. We will miss you but we know that the the world needs you. We love you, Dad, Mom, and Chloe

As every parent says, time is flying by. In one way, I want time to stand still and in another, I can't wait to have one of the best adult friends I'll ever have. She walked into that school like she owned the place. It seemed like everyone knew her name. I wish I had just half of her confidence. She's already a person that I admire so much.

Chloe and I went to the grocery store and I have to admit I enjoyed having time alone with her. She is at such a fun age. And it's nice to know that she can talk herself when her big sister isn't there to answer for her.

Blessings,
Dana

LOVE the pics! Cutest outfit!!!

Wondering- why no bracelet? Is it because of what the bracelet represented? Or not allowed? Just curious!

Also, that last part about Chloe being able to talk for herself- isn't it amazing when you get the youngest by their self? P talks like crazy and says BIG words when Bubba isn't around to chatter away!!!

Glad you only shed a few tears and that the first day drop off went ok!!!

Touching, heart-provoking, wonderful, totally remember!! Thanks for allowing an empty-nester to relive the 1st day of school through your lives. Emma has a great model in her mom! Chloe will also enjoy "her mom time". Before you know it, you'll be writing two notes and volunteering at the school for both the girls. Being a mother was/is the best gift I was have been given. Jim and I have treasured being parents and now are blessed to have our children as BFF'S! God's plan is an awesome one.

The picture are great (I had no doubt) and you're right Emma was ready to see what the world needs from her. She will be such a great "gift" to her class.

Precious pictures, bracelet and all. :)

What a wonderful note to leave her. You are always thinking and caring for someone else. :) Hope the day went well. I am thrilled Emma has that special teacher. She is one of my favorite people.

Also needed to tell you that I LOVE the coupon widgets you have there on the left. I'll be checking that every week to see if I pulled the right inserts out!

What an exciting day!! Emma looks beautiful... what I wouldn't give to escape the mandatory school uniforms that are required in both public and private schools here. Emma's outfit is too cute!

The bracelet.. I have a sister that is a Kindergarten teacher and a sister-in-law that used to be. Teachers hate it when parents send their kids to school with accessories that can become toys. Emma also snuck a bracelet to school last year and lost it and the poor teachers aid spent half of the day looking for it. She got in a lot of trouble for that one. I went pretty easy on her today since I totally missed it and it has been a while but if that bracelet goes back to school, there will be major consequences!
